OUR PASTORS

We are blessed to have two Pastors called to lead us at Walnut Grove. Pastors David Messersmith and Kathy Sorrell both joined us in September of 2013. They have complimentary skills and styles that give Walnut Grove the advantages of a larger church while still evoking the sense of family that only a smal church can provide.

Pastor David earned his Masters degree in Christian Ministry from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska. Before arriving at Walnut Grove, David worked as a Youth Pastor and has a great passion for teaching young people. David fell in love with his college sweetheart, Debra, and they have been together for almost 25 years. They have two boys, Dalton, 22, and Dane, 12, who can be seen serving in various roles throughout the church.

Pastor Kathy retired in 2013 after a successful career with College of Saint Mary in Omaha. She has a heart for teaching adults and all of us at Walnut Grove continue to grow into a deeper relationship with Christ because of her. Kathy and her husband, Ray, were married at Walnut Grove, "Several years ago". They have one son, Michael.

OUR CHURCH

Welcome. We are glad the Lord has led you here. It doesn't matter if you are a life long church attendee or a first-timer, you will find a warm welcome here at Walnut Grove.

Walnut Grove Baptist Church was founded in 1965 and has been providing spiritual support for the west end of Council Bluffs for the last 50 years. While we are a Baptist church, all Christian believers are welcome to attend any of our events or services. Stop by, we would love to see you.

We are a Christ-centered, Bible grounded, grace-based, family-friendly church. Walnut Grove prides itself on being multi-generational, and we provide programming for all age groups. We don't have a dress code, so feel free to show up in whatever is comfortable. The Lord is more interested in what is in your heart than what is on your body.

God is alive and doing great things here at Walnut Grove. Join us and let God do great things in your life.
